BP4 QTR4: Research and Interpretation-Geography

Geography
Location: The latitude and longitude of France is 46 00 N, 2 00 E. The regional location is in Europe. France borders Bay of Biscay and English Channel, between Belgium and Spain, southeast of the UK; bordering the Mediterranean Sea, between Italy and Spain.
Area-Comparative: France's area is slightly less than the size of Texas.
Area: The total area of France including land and water areas is 643,801 sq km; 551,500 sq km

Land Boundaries: The total length of all land boundaries in metropolitan France is 2,889 km. If you include the French Guiana, the total is 4,702 km.
Climate: France has generally cool winters and mild summers. Although they have mild winters and hot summers along the Mediterranean; occasional strong, cold, dry, north-to-northwesterly wind known as mistral.
Terrain: France consists of mostly flat plains or gently rolling hills in north and west; remainder is mountainous, especially Pyrenees in south, Alps in east.

Natural Resources: The Natural resources if France is coal, iron, ore, bauxite, zinc, uranium, antimony, arsenic, potash, feldspar, fluorspar, gypsum, timber, and fish.
Land Use: The percentage of arable land use is 33.46%. The percentage for permanent crops is 2.03%. The percentage for everything else (other) is 64.51%.

Environment-Current Issues: Some of the current issues in France are some forest damage from acid rain; air pollution from industrial and vehicle emissions; water pollution from urban wastes, and agricultural runoff.

General Information
Country Name: The conventional name of the country is France. The long forms of France is French Republic.
Nationality: The nationality of France is French.
Languages: The main language of France is French. The other main foreign languages are English (34%), Spanish (13%), and German (8%).
Flag Description:

The flag of France was adopted officially on February 15th, 1794. The tricolor flag consists of the colors blue, white and red. They are the national colors. The colors are positioned in that order. The bands are vertical of equal width. Red, white, and blue represent liberty, quality, and fraternity. Blue and red are also the time-honored colors of Paris. White represents the color of the Royal House of Bourdon.

Background: France is in Europe. It is between . France is known as the French Republic. The nationality is French. There are many different languages spoken in France. The main language is French but other languages are English, Spanish, and German. They flag of France contains the national colors, red, white, and blue. France has a wide fashion industry. Paris is known as one of the world's largest fashion sources. It is one of the fashion capitals of the world. They have many sites to see such as the Eiffel Tower. France has a large military. France is also a permanent member of the Security Council of the UN. There is a huge amount of history within France and a nice, big economy. 

BP2 QTR4: UN Quick Write

The UN is an organization that consists of 192 countries. The UN brings together the nations of the world to encourage peace, development, justice, human rights, and the well being of all people.

The UN began after World War II. It was made to keep peace and prevent future wars. The league of nations fell apart because it hadn't been affective. The league had some good ideals but they didn't have any military powers to carry out the decisions it made. The charter or set of rules of the UN had been drawn up. The member nations of the United Nations had to sign to agree that they would provide military forces to enforce the UN's decisions for peace keeping. There are  a total of 192 countries in the UN. The country has to submit an application to become apart of the UN and be voted in by other countries that are apart of the UN. 2/3 of the majority have to vote for the country to be in and then they become a member of the UN. The UN helps in many ways. They have a secretary general, not a president like the U.S.


The UN began after World War II and includes 192 countries. It was brought together to keep peace and prevent war in the future. To add another country to the UN, 2/3 of the majority have to vote the country in. They have a secretary general that is in charge.

BP1 QTR4: Women's History Month

     Women have a right to vote! The way they were treated during Women's Suffrage was inappropriate and disrespectful. Within the next paragraph you will be able to see some of the fights men had against women and their voting rights, they way i think Alice Paul would respond to the flyer and cartoon, and the barriers to full equality between women and men existing in American society and the obstacles.

     What were some of the primary arguments against suffrage for women? Of these, which seem most reasonable to you? Which seem most far-fetched? Some of the arguments are "BECAUSE Nebraska women are already enjoying a greater measure of protection and privilege under the laws than do women of any state where women vote", "BECAUSE the woman worker wants rest and quietude—not political excitement", "BECAUSE every reason supporting the claim of women to vote supports also the right of women to be consulted as to whether they shall or shall not be given the ballot". I don't think any of them were reasonable. All of them are completely wrong and don't make sense to me. I think the most far-fetched argument is "BECAUSE the woman worker wants rest and quietude—not political excitement". Women know how to handle their actions. They aren't going to get excited over politics!

     How do you imagine Alice Paul would respond to the cartoonist, the author of the flyer and the men in the photograph? I think Alice Paul would be very unhappy with the situation going on. Alice would handle it very calmly and continue to fight for her and other women's rights. I think she would be upset with the cartoonist, the author, and the men in the photograph. Alice would respond in a respectful, mature way to put her point out there with supporting them, and disagree with the cartoon and flyer.

     PAST  TO  PRESENT: What barriers to full equality between women and men still exist in American society? What do you think accounts for these obstacles? For example, why do you think the United States has never had a female President? I think the barriers to full equality between women and men that still exist are women not getting elected to become president of the United States of America. I think accounts for these obstacles are men have more strength in our society and no body believes in women so they don't get elected. I think the reason why we have never had a female president is because the men and the people of our society don't believe in women and the ways they can contribute to our country. They believe that men can do the job better and have more strength in our country.

     In conclusion, the arguments the men made are very unreasonable, Alice Paul would have handled this situation very calmly and maturely, and the barriers to full equality are the fact that women don't get elected. Women have a right to vote and men shouldn't have a say, in my opinion. Alice Paul helped make these rights come true. You are able to see these points within this essay. And this is what I think about women's rights to vote, and this flyer.

BP4 QTR3: President's Day

        I think that they should rename President's Day to "George Washington's Day" because he was a wonderful man! You are able to see this within the two quotes. One of the quotes written by George Washington himself, and the other written by a citizen named Daniel Webster.


        George Washington quoted "In a word, I want an American character, that the powers of Europe may be convinced we act for ourselves and not for others; this is in my judgment, is the only way to be respected abroad and happy at home." This shows that George Washington cared for our country. He wants us to be independent and strong, just like our country. He helped make it to what it is today. That's why I think that Presidents' Day should be changed to "George Washington's Day".

        Daniel Webster quoted "Wherever men love liberty, wherever they believe in patriotism, wherever they exalt high character, by universal consent they turn to the name of George Washington. No occasion could be conceived more worthy, more truly and comprehensively American, than that which is chosen to commemorate this divinely 

appointed captain". This shows that others think the same thing I do. George washington was amazing. He is the father of our country. 

        In concluion, George Washington was great. He helped make our country to what is has become today; independent, strong, and treated with dignity. He is the father of our country! You are able to see his greatness within the two quotes included in this essay. And this is why I think President's Day should be renamed to "George Washington's Day".

BP3 QTR3: Children's March

The parents or adults could not protest in the "Children's March" movie because they would lose their jobs, homes, and more. I think that Dr. King said "no", at first to kids going to jail because it could negatively effect their future. It took more than four men to hold the fire hoses steady. The kids were singing in jail. The youngest child who got arrested and put in jail was four years old.

BP2 QTR3: Project Reflection

1. What is your final project going to be? What led you to choose this idea for your project?
Our final project is going to be a powerpoint of all of the parts in Epic Quest Choice 1 put together. We different ideas for them but we wanted it to be put together and turned in as one. Therefore, we are making it into a powerpoint.

2.How is the project unfolding for you?
The project is unfolding for me by showing me what it's like having to go through all of this real life stuff. It shows me what I have to go through as far as money, owning or running a business, working for a business, buying mine and other wants and needs, and etc. It also has a good affect on me because I'm learning more about it as we go on with this project.

3. How are you gathering the required information?
We have learned some of it in class. But the information we haven't learned in class, we have been looking up online.

4. What's happening that you didn't expect? In other words, how has your project changed over time?

We didn't expect to make a short story. We didn't think we were going to be making one, but over time we realized that it would be easy, and short and sweet.

QTR 3: T-Shirts Travel Reaction Post

               The Salvation Army exports about 99% of the clothes received. That is why the largest export product from the United States of America to Africa is secondhand clothing. The Africans make the most money in the exporting business. Africans don't manufacture their own clothing because they do not need to, plus they cannot afford to do so.
               The Zambians think that Americans are very wasteful. They think that they are pretty clever because "they talk only in terms of cash and not physical". Lastly they think of them as bossy because they think that every country should be like theirs.
               Going to school to get an education is one of the main ambitions of the Citizens of Zambia. Another one of their ambitions is to travel to America. I think that the main message of this movie is that our wasting selves and secondhand clothing contributes to their country and economy.
